When I first spotted the many-pocketed jacket on the model outside the door of Peace Frogs Travel/Outfitters, it had a jaunty scarf wrapped around the neck that made it look more fashionable than like a workhorse piece of clothing.
I was intrigued by the number of pockets for every item, because I do travel a lot and I worry about losing my passport and ticket or dropping my iTouch while sleeping on flights to Europe.
What a dream come true. A pocket for anything you can name. AND there are little embroidered pictures to remind you what goes where. I used them as hints.
I was also thrilled to be able to unzip the sleeves and have a good looking vest when it began to get too warm on the plane. Again the embroidered right and left reminders made it easy to quickly put the sleeves back on.
My only worry was whether the material would wrinkle on long flights. It didn’t and I slept in it on two transatlantic trips. I was thrilled with the pockets, but have one caution. It is possible to have something small like earplugs slip through a pocket into the lining due to the path for the wires to the earphones for the iTouch, etc. So plan to use a shallow pocket for small things.
Also it would be wise to buy a slightly bigger size than you normally wear if you really intend to use the iPad pocket. I found that made the weight too heavy on one side for real comfort, so I will stick with my medium, but it is a bit tight when fully loaded and zipped. If you carry two pairs of glasses and all the extra things I do, try it out before you decide on the size.
The taupe color was a very in-color in Europe in November. I used it exclusively, only adding a black raincoat in downpours. I was warm enough in 40 degrees. I heartily recommend this wonderful find of a jacket! –Carter, December 2015
