Spring break is upon us and many travelers are headed to sunny, beach locations making it a great time to mention some useful items to stash in your luggage.
1) Nomadix Beach Towel– At this point, I think everyone that works at the store owns one of these towels. They are fantastic! Large enough to be a beach towel, yet compact enough that it takes up very little space in your luggage. They are quick-drying, super absorbent and to top it off, slip resistant, for use as a yoga mat. Oh, and doubles as a blanket on the plane trip over.
2) Collapsible Water Bottles– We carry a couple different styles of collapsible water bottles. Vapur’s water bottle is as big as 1 liter and is extremely lightweight. This one can clip to a beach bag for easy transport, will stand up on its own when full and can even be used as an ice pack. Hydaway’s bottle collapses in a really unique way and offers up a different shape for easy carry. Both are dishwasher safe and BPA free.
3) Compression Sac– One of my favorite items for packing is a compression sac by Eagle Creek. Stick a stack of clothes in and roll the air out through a one-way valve in the bottom to knock the pile down in size. This is like vacuum compression bags, but without needing the vacuum. I always stash an empty one to bring back dirty clothes, but in particular for a beach trip this will keep any swimwear or sandy clothes separated from your other items. 4) Waterproof Pouch– Stash your phone or camera into one of these waterproof pouches to keep the sand and water out. You can even maneuver your touchscreen through the pouch. Best of all, they are completely submersible and have an option to float.
5) Packable Tote– Packable bags are extremely handy whether you are returning with more than you came with, using it as a shopping tote or using it as a beach tote. The one pictured above includes a side water bottle pockets and a crossbody strap.
6) Exofficio Sol Cool & Bugsaway accessories– Depending on the adventure that you will be going on, Exofficio makes bandanas and neck gaiters that incorporate the ability to cool your body temperature down, as well as insect repellent heat dried in to the fabric to combat mosquitos, ticks, etc. –Lindsay, March 2017
