BRUNCH AT THE BREAKERS

For over a century, The Breakers in Palm Beach has been a premiere destination for the glitterati in Palm Beach.  It has housed tycoons and socialites, and its historic guest registry reads like a who’s who of the twentieth century with figures as diverse as Andrew Carnegie, the Astors, and even President John F. Kennedy on his honeymoon.  Having been rebuilt after two fires, the hotel is modeled after the Villa Medici in Rome, and there were 75 artisans brought over from Italy to turn the hotel into the masterpiece it is today.

When my now-husband and I decided to spend part of our honeymoon in Palm Beach, Rochelle implored that we simply had to check out Sunday Brunch at the Breakers as it is the stuff of legends.  After some quick research, I discovered it didn’t fit into our honeymoon budget, however I was fortunate to have spectacular bridesmaids who actually gave us the generous gift of a meal we will never forget.  While this may have been a buffet, it would hard to find one of equal caliber. There were lobster tails, different kinds of caviar to savor, and several stations where chefs made-to-order crepes, omelettes, and even sushi.  We spent three hours in a gluttonous heaven devouring one incredible plate after the next.  I wish I had taken more pictures of the food, but I didn’t want to completely give it away that we were out of our league.

Once we were fully stuffed, we took a stroll along the beach and wandered the magnificent halls.  We were brought back down to earth when the valet brought around our Ford hatchback behind a pristine white Lamborghini.  It was an unbelievable day and a perfect end to our honeymoon. -Katie, November 2016
