CRUISING ALASKA ON REGENT

We had a wonderful trip to Alaska on a Regent cruise! We couldn’t have asked for better weather. And Regent doesn’t disappoint when it comes to food and service. No complaints at all! Excursions are so well organized and the tour guides so knowledgeable and informative, you come away learning so much from them.

All of our excursions were wonderful. It seemed they just kept getting better each day. The guys did get to go fly fishing. They each caught salmon and also had an encounter with a bear. The salmon are catch and release but they did get to bring home a nice bear story. The ladies went on the Mendenhall Glacier/whale quest excursion on that day. We got to see something that is very rare to see which is called “bubble net feeding” [pictured]. It was a highlight of the trip. We also loved our helicopter ride to the glacier and getting to explore the glacier. That was another favorite excursion for us. Our excursion to the fjords by boat was cancelled due to mechanical problems with the boat but we were able to take a float plane into the fjords which was probably even better because we got so close to the mountains and got an aerial view. The pilot landed the float plane on a huge lake and we got out and stood on the float of the plane for a while.

We enjoyed our day in Vancouver. The Pan Pacific hotel was very nice. Our harbor view room had the most beautiful view we’ve ever had from a hotel room. Float planes and boats were constantly coming and going. It was worth paying extra to get that view. It was an easy, under 30-minute drive to the airport and getting through customs was no problem at all. The people in Vancouver were all very nice and friendly.

You must put Alaska at the top of your bucket list. The views are just breathtaking and photos can’t begin to capture the beauty. Thank you for all your help in making all the arrangements. We couldn’t be more pleased and would highly recommend this trip. – Debbie, Danny, Stan, & Cindy August 2016
