There aren’t many places around the world where you can go and get away from the potential of insect related diseases, including our own backyard. Fortunately, there are many options available to help battle the bugs. One that has caught our eye is clothing that utilizes Insect Shield technology. It incorporates permethrin in the clothing which results in an effective insect protection that lasts the lifetime of the garment. The insect repellent is heat dried into the yarn and has no smell, nor will it come off (even when you sweat). All family members, including kids, can use this technology to decrease the amount of insect repellent that you have to apply directly to your skin. These clothes are a great option for travel, camping, yard work or even hiking. Permethrin has been successfully used in the United States as an EPA registered product since 1977. It has an excellent safety record and has been tested numerous times to repel mosquitoes, ticks, chiggers, midges, ants, flies and more.
