PERUVIAN ADVENTURE

There is something simply magical about the country of Peru. From the vibrant colors and smells of the local markets, the taste of fresh ceviche, and the drama of the Andes Mountains and Inca ruins, this friendly South American country has something to offer everyone. I spent twelve days in late November 2014 exploring Cusco and the Sacred Valley, hiking the Inca Trail to Machu Picchu, and then relaxing on the beach near Mancora.

It is difficult to pinpoint the highlight of my Peruvian experience; however, I will never forget walking the stone trail the Incas walked over one thousand years ago through the majestic Andes. We stumbled upon ruin after ruin as we trekked for four days, ending in Machu Picchu. To celebrate our accomplishment, my trek mates and I toasted with refreshing Pisco Sours in the enchanting town of Aguas Calientes. And I highly recommend the Vichayito Bungalows near Mancora.  Miguel will treat you like kings and queens! The ceviche was delectable and the menu so expansive, we never had to leave the resort. I can’t imagine a more fulfilling vacation!  Ellen, May 2015
