A SAFARI JOURNEY
The Swahili word safari means journey, which originally comes from the Arabic word Safar. An African safari is most certainly a journey and it is definitely an adventure. An African safari can be a transformational jolt to your senses in an excellent way. There is something deeply organic and alive and grounded in Africa. It’s often that first step, that first encounter with the soil.
My East Africa safari journey will begin in Nairobi where I’ll melt into my Kenyan adventures with a private visit to the Sheldrick Wildlife Trust. Here I’ll meet my little adoptee elephant, Larro. And, the Kazuri Bead workshop, which enhances the lives of families within the Kikuyu tribe.
The following two weeks will be overflowing with wildlife encounters, cultural experiences, and conservation discoveries. There will be animal game drives, bush walks, and culinary explorations. ‘Wild luxury’ safari camps that will bring me back down to earth with a landscape that will awaken my soul. Here is my upcoming journey:
Kenya
Lewa Safari Camp, Lewa Wildlife Conservancy
Mara Bushtops, Bushtops Conservancy bordering the Masai Mara National Reserve
Tanzania
Lemala Nanyukie, Serengeti National Park
Gibb’s Farm, Great Rift Valley (Ngorongoro Crater)
