Rochelle, I wanted to drop you a note to let you know how much we enjoyed our trip to Turkey. There is so much that could go wrong in a two-week vacation and nothing did. I had not used a travel agency to plan an itinerary ever and this was such a good experience. Overall, the trip was really wonderful! We loved every part of it, including the unstructured drive along the southwest coast.
Speaking for myself, I’d like to tell you how smoothly every arrangement went — from the terrific, informative guides to the rental car agency meeting us at the airport with papers in hand to the airplane travel (I love Turkish Airlines!) to the hotels. The hot air balloon and the organic breakfast in Goreme were both memorable.
The itinerary worked out wonderfully. The driving distances were reasonable and we got to see a lot of the beautiful Turquoise Coast as well as some of the mountain interior. If I had to do it over, I’d spend another night in Kas. That was my favorite village and I wish we had more time there. But I wouldn’t want to give up a day elsewhere, so I’d have to advise adding a day to the trip.
Mehmet and Serdar were exceptional guides — informative about what we were seeing and about Turkish life in general.
Kelebek Cave Hotel — my favorite. The location, all the places one could sit outside and enjoy a fabulous view, the cave room, the Turkish massage, and the breakfast as well as dinner made it a memorable stay. The Hideaway Hotel in Kas was simple but spotless and also with a wonderful breakfast on the rooftop. The manager who greeted us there was lovely and the location was good. And, the Nilya Boutique Hotel in Selcuk was lovely. Terrific location, helpful staff, and lovely place to sit outside. The room was very nice.- Susan W and Russ L, Turkey, May 2015
