December is one of my favorite times of the year at the store. We pull out all of our holiday decorations, turn on some holiday tunes and there is a certain excitement in the air. Most of all, year after year I enjoy pulling together the best assortment I can of travel items that would make the perfect gifts and I enjoy seeing customer’s reactions to these products throughout the holiday season. Here are some of my favorites this year:
1. Scrubba– This is an incredibly lightweight, collapsible wash bag (folds to pocket size) for whenever you find yourself hand washing clothing. The secret is in the ribs that they have built inside the bag that give you a similar scrub to a washboard. Open the bag, fill with clothing, pour in water and soap, roll and clip, rub the bag and then rinse. 30 seconds for a quick traveler wash and 3 minutes for a machine quality wash!
2. Nomadix Towel– Their slogan is “own less, do more”. The idea behind this being that you only need one towel for a wide variety of different circumstances. It is a full sized beach towel that packs down small and is incredibly absorbent while being quick-drying. It is also slip-resistant, anti-microbial and reversible. Use it at the beach, pool, camping, travel or even when doing yoga.
3. Replogle Globe– I always love a good globe. Of course you can view all of this on your phone nowadays, but I think nothing replaces running your fingers across the topography on a physical globe. We have lots of different styles to choose from, including a few that illuminate!
4. Scottevest RFID Travel Vest– We have carried these for quite some time now, but I am putting them on this list because they are still such an innovative, good-looking travel vest and I continue to get great feedback from customers who have purchased it. Available for both men and women and both contain 18+ internal pockets (including a RFID-blocking pocket).
5. Dubs– These look like ordinary earplugs, but are much cooler! They act as an acoustic filter so will reduce the volume of your environment without sacrificing the experience. Lower the overall volume of the jet engine on a plane, while still being able to hear the flight attendant or lower the volume at a concert while still being able to hear the person next to you.
6. Omy Giant Coloring Rolls– Join the coloring craze! Unroll one of these giant coloring rolls on your floor or wall and enjoy an afternoon of coloring. Rolls out to 6 feet wide x 3 feet high! Choose from six different locations around the world. If these are too large for you, we’ve got other smaller sizes to choose from. These have been a GIANT hit (no pun intended)!
7. Plant! Spice Container– An assortment of 13 organic spices that are contained in little screw top containers. This makes it incredibly easy to travel while still taking your spices. Spice up dorm food by adding a pinch of cayenne or elevate a camping trip by seasoning the days catch on the go.
8. RFID-blocking Wallet– With credit cards continuing to incorporate computer chips, our RFID-blocking wallets are some of the most requested items.
9. Rimowa Salsa Deluxe– Luggage always makes a fantastic gift for someone. It is something that they may not necessarily want to purchase for themselves, but is always needed and appreciated. This collection is one of my favorites in the store because it combines beauty and durability all in one.
