Whether you are taking a weekend trip or a two-week European adventure, packing a suitcase with just the right items can be frustrating and time-consuming. Stop by Peace Frogs Travel/Outfitters any time for a copy of our useful packing list and let us help you find exactly what you need to get you on your way.
Our next Packing Party is on Saturday, June 6 at 11 am. Our packing expert, Claire Fornaro, will show you how to pack efficiently for any type of travel and will show off some of our favorite packing aids.
To get you started, here is a list of ten items I take with me every time I travel, no matter where I am going or for how long. Happy packing!
1. PACKING CUBES – These are a must! I have been obsessed with packing cubes for years. They keep my clothes organized and tidy while on tour.
2. POUCH FOR CHARGERS – Now that I have a chargers for my iPhone, Kindle, and camera, cords can get tangled and hard to find in my suitcase. I use a small pouch to contain my chargers and also extra camera batteries and memory cards and my headphones.
3. PEN – I always travel with a pen. You never know when you’ll need to jot down directions or advice from fellow travelers. Airlines never have enough pens when you need to fill out your customs cards. And you can be the first to claim the crossword or Sudoku puzzles in the airline magazine.
4. BAND-AIDS – Having a few band-aids on hand is a necessity. You are often on foot for many hours of the day while on tour and even the most comfortable shoes may wear on you. Do not let a blister ruin your day!
5. TRAVEL UMBRELLA – I have a small, lightweight umbrella that lives in my travel supply drawer and accompanies me on all trips.
6. EAR PLUGS – Airplanes will often supply a complimentary eye mask on overnight flights, but not ear plugs to drown out the noise. They are also a must for noisy hotels located on busy streets.
7. PHOTOCOPIES OF IDENTIFICATION – Always keep a copy of your passport or driver’s license in your suitcase, depending on if you are traveling internationally or domestically. If anything were to happen to your originals, it will make getting a new one much easier.
8. STAIN REMOVER/WOOLITE – I pack light and do some laundry in my sink if I am traveling for over a week. Small Woolite packs make laundry on the go very easy. Regardless of the duration of my trip, I always have a Shout wipe with me.
9. GUM – I am not a regular gum chewer, so I usually have a half-used pack stored in my travel drawer waiting for my next flight. My ears cannot get through a flight without it.
10. EMPTY BAGS – A collapsible Chico Bag (or three) is useful for a couple of extra bags for dirty clothes, wet bathing suits, an exploding sunscreen, or trash.–Ellen, June 2015
