Did you know that identity theft can occur without anything being physically stolen? These technologically advanced ‘pickpockets’ don’t need to steal your wallet, but instead use an electronic data reading device to grab information from your credit card or passport from a short distance away. This scan provides them with immediate access to your credit card number and personal information.

This new form of theft has resulted in a surge of innovative travel products to address this security need. At Peace Frogs Travel/Outfitters we take client security seriously and carry a variety of RFID-blocking wallets, passport cases and concealed pouches. Here are some options we recommend to our customers that will safely block the radio frequency transmission:

1) Ogon Card Case– aluminum cases with slots for credit cards and cash.

2) Tumi Ticon collection– a brand new collection from Tumi in gorgeous leather. Available in  card case, bi-fold and passport wallets, as well as bags.

3) Concealed Waist Pouch– designed to be worn concealed under your clothing to not only prevent digital identity theft, but also pickpocketing- thus killing 2 birds with 1 stone!

4) Pacsafe Backpacks or Shoulder Bags– The perfect travel bags that are anti-theft in a multitude of ways, including an RFID-blocking pouch in all bags.  For more information on Pacsafe bags, click here for a recent blog post I did on staying safe and secure while traveling.

Passports are currently made with these RFID chips, but not all credit cards (yet)- I would double check with your individual credit card company to find out whether you have one that is ‘chipped’.
