It was a brilliant week on New Providence Island, Bahamas! The weather was absolutely perfect – a welcome surprise during peak hurricane season, and I certainly had my fair share of conch (the national dish) and Kalik (the national beer).

As a Certified Sandals Specialist, I was eager to check out the recent refurbishments at Sandals Royal Bahamian Spa Resort & Offshore Island. Our Kensington Luxury Beachfront Concierge Room in the Balmoral Tower definitely didn’t disappoint with its expansive balcony and breathtaking views (perfect for breakfast each morning and evening cocktails). My primary goal on this vacation was lots of relaxation so I spent at least a couple of days on the offshore island – where there is lots of peace and quiet and shady spots to loll away the afternoon. My husband and I did get out for a couple of adventures including a half-day bike ride with Carolyn Wardle of Bahamas Outdoors (great for nature and birding enthusiasts) and a site inspection of The Cove Atlantis followed by an afternoon at Aquaventure. And, no trip to Nassau is complete without trying the fresh conch from one of the many small vendors on Arawak Cay, or if you’re adventurous, one of the fisherman at Potter’s Cay.

There are some amazing Bahamaian resort promotions offered this fall so give me a ring (977-1415) if you’re up for a getaway.
